She is the captains sweetheart
Her hair is black as pitch
Her father was a ferry man
Her mother was a witch

Her eyes are green as serpents skin
Her lips as rubies red
The captain calls her 'mermaid'
The sorrow of the dead

When the captain comes a calling
She fair flies into his arms
He is captured, he is taken
With her fancies and her charms

She was the captain's sweetheart
'Till he fell full fathom five
The daughter of a ferryman
Never leaves her loves alive.

This is a very beautiful nostalgic piece. Anything with an old locket makes me think of romances past.
