Dusk and the fertile mind

The front page of Etsy had a beautiful treasury today...

It can still be found here till the 31st. I totally fell in love with the Wolf and the Rabbit print, and immediately bought it!

The artist is Jon Carling. I can't wait for it to get here, I haven't bought an art print for an eternity, and it's going to remind me of all those book covers I'm supposed to be illustrating...just another job for the bigger studio, tales of which are coming soon. :)

I've been doing some dying over the last couple of days that's really turned out fantastic. Mostly vintage biased binding and satin ribbon (of which I might sell some of as supplies, it's so fabulous), but some crochet lace and doilies for wrist-cuffs and belts too. I laid out my first belt the other day, it looks fantastic!

One batch of dark blue yeilded this piece of cotton, which came out looking like a Rorschach nightmare! Before I tell you what I see, What do you see?

To my mind there's definately skeletons in there! I might have to use this piece to back a cushion or something- originally I intended it for belt backing, but it's just too good not to leave in this one big amazing piece.

And finally, I found a wonderful site by a UK photographer, James Merrell. Mostly fashion and interiors, these are my 3 favourites.

Jon Carling is a tip genius, and it's a relief another person's found him. In case you haven't already seen, his myspace has a ton more amazing work: www.myspace.com/ifelthtat

I see the skeletons... but I also see a rabbit and a moth. Very cool. You can find some enchanting things on etsy, you can also find that it makes money magically disappear :P
I adore your blog, such beautiful finds!

I also see the skeletons, but also see sets of medieval maids dancing. Love the photos and their simple muted pallette and weathered finish.

I saw figures with their arms outstretched above their heads - almost like they were diving into something...and they did look a bit skeletal but some looked fully dressed with their bones showing through....do keep it in one piece. It's definitely a treasure.
