Finally I took the plunge and had my best friend (who's been inking just under a year now) bring his set-up to my house and draw on me!
The needle and thread is obviously symbolic of what I do, it's probably what I always will do and if I don't, it still represents now, and that's a huge stepping stone of my life path. I also developed my love of home crafts from my grandmothers, who's sewing boxes gave me many happy hours sifting and sorting. (And some items I still use). The loopy flourish pattern is the first 'fancy' thing I ever learned to draw- my Dad used to do pinstripe detailing on trucks and hot rods (my Uncle is a vintage hod rod freak) and he taught me that little loopy loop. The dots are just embellishments I have a habit of doing!
I'm so happy the way it turned out- I couldn't have imagined it better.

Quite impressive. I just have a tiny little carrot on my ankle with my 2 sister, (it is our logo 3 carrots) and I cried, it hurt!
it's really lovely! I've often thought of getting a ball of yarn and a crochet hook done on myself :)

Beautifully done, and a perfect spot for it, so you can admire it as you work :)

It's very good isn't it...the thread looks almost real...
Still loving your blog!
That is a really beautiful design on a symbol that holds a lot of meaning for you. And right by your hand too! tell your friend, job well done.
I love, LOVE your tatoo!!... but more than that your courage to do it. It is absolutely perfect and beautiful. I have wanted one most of my adult life, and my hubby, so far, has been able to beg me out of the idea [sigh].
