Bradford 1853

Sometimes it's so wonderful- all this stuff I've accumulated around me. I forget the millions of secret histories whispering across my desk, then I lay eyes on the spidery '1853' on the back of this tintype, and I touch my fingers to my Georgian heart necklace around my neck, and I think...how marvellous, all these tiny inconsequential things are, to have existed in our world for so long and to have come down to me. For me to find them sometimes in the bottom of old jewellery boxes, jammed in the cracks of dresser drawers, hung with dime store plastic horrors in the thrift shop, slipped between the wall and the fire mantel...waiting.

For me and you.

Well said...its not like you're recycling these ojects into your work...you're preserving a very still life in history, for others to hopefully appreciate.

how lovely, yes indeed. I love imagining the past lives that the objects in my life have had. Also, wanted to let you know that I did a little blog about you and your work on my blog. Just a little something. Hope you like !

Yes and for you to find them (or maybe they find you), touch them, and feel their history, and marvel at them...and then share them...that's a gift...

we all have our own little treasures and objects that evoke wonderful memories.

I feel the same way, as if by touching an old item I am touching the life of someone long ago, and I wonder who they were and what their life was like. I love old things....

ooh, love this! i love the idea of finding wonderful treasures tucked away waiting to be discovered. i loved it when my ex would talk about rebuilding cottages in cornwall, england and finding treasures in the walls like coins, old shoes-all this stuff that was considered trash too and just used to make the wall-how amazing! i just finished my ancestor lydia's altar and she died in 1650-i kind of can't fathom that! i can make sense of the 1800s because my grandfather was born in 1895 but *gah!* to a relative from the 1600s. again, what treasures there are-somewhere.
